Why a written cleaning specification saves you money

Vague contracts create disputes. A clear specification protects standards, budget and the relationship.

Cleaning disputes almost always trace back to an unwritten expectation. The client assumed the internal glass was included; the contract said 'general office cleaning'.

A specification fixes this. It lists every area, every task, and the frequency for each — daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly. It names the consumables included and who replenishes them.

It also sets an audit method. We use digital checklists completed on site with timestamps and photographs, reviewed by a supervisor and shared with the client monthly.

The commercial benefit is that both sides can price honestly. Scope changes become a line item conversation rather than a complaint, and standards stay consistent when staff change.

If your current contract is a single paragraph, ask for a specification before you ask for a discount. It usually reveals where the money is going.
